I hit record and talk. What's this 'wrapper' I'm missing?

If you just hit record and talk, you skipped the **only** part of your video a stranger judges before they tap. That part is your wrapper.

It's everything a stranger judges before they press play, and it's three things. Get one of them wrong, and your best lesson never gets opened. One is packaging: your title and your cover.

Two is the hook: your first line. It decides if they stay past second three. Three is format: the kind of video it is. That's a talking head, a client demo, or text on screen. Change any one of those, and the same lesson gets a **different** click.

So wrap it so your person wants to rip it open. Not everybody. **Your** person. But most trainers post every lesson in the same format. They're running a **Treadmill-Only Gym**. A Treadmill-Only Gym is when every lesson you post comes in the same wrapper, so the people who'd only tap a different one never walk in.

You'll see it on almost every trainer's page. It's the same angle and the same talking head, video after video. Picture a trainer teaching a new client to hinge. He explains it three different ways, and she still rounds her back. Then he lays a dowel along her spine, and she gets it on the first rep.

The lesson didn't change. She just needed it delivered a **different** way. Online, it's the same thing. Take one lesson: your back rounds on a deadlift because the bar's too far from your shins. As a talking head, it's you to camera, saying exactly that.

As a client demo, your client pulls, you slide the bar in, and they pull again. No talking needed. As text on screen, it's three short lines over a slow clip of the bar sliding in. Some people will never tap the talking head. But they'll stop for the client demo of the **exact** same lesson.

Think of a gym with nothing but treadmills. The runners love it. The lifters drive right past, and you never even know they were out there. Now, you might be thinking:

'But aren't I supposed to pick one style and stay consistent?' Fair question - everybody tells you to do it. Your message and your wrapper are two different things. Consistency is for your message. It's not for your **wrapper**.

Caleb Ralston does both: some videos straight to camera, and some cinematic, out in the world, with him talking over it. The ideas are the same. Those two formats pull in two completely **different** groups of people. Not sure whether your page is a Treadmill-Only Gym?

Here's a quick test. Stop here, or screenshot this and come back to it. Scroll back through your last ten videos. If they're all the same format, you're running a Treadmill-Only Gym. So this week, take one lesson you already posted and post it again in a format you've never used. Keep the lesson. Change only the **wrapper**.

Then don't watch which one gets more views. Watch which one gets a **DM**. That shows you which wrapper your people actually open, so you stop guessing.
